First let me introduce myself. My name is John Doty. The name is pronounced as if it were Doughty. It may very well have been Doughty but was shortened when my 11th great-grandfather came over on the Mayflower.

Pearlwood was started in 1998 as the internet presence for my sculptural creations. I graduated from the University of Denver in 1974 with a fine arts degree in studio sculpture and design. I have worked mostly with wood as my media.

My studio is located in Jensen Beach Florida where I concentrate mostly on lathe woodturning creations. I keep my pieces limited to one-of-a-kind and deliberately avoid production runs. This allows me to focus on the individuality that each piece of wood brings to the creative process.

My studio is populated with numerous machines I have built over the years to facilitate working with wood, as well as the standard woodworking machines found in any wood shop.
